Oh god this is tough. I know there are a lot of people who don't like the change for the Tampa Bay Rays. I like it however. As someone who gets the idea of product placement, getting rid of the "devil" in Devil Rays makes sense. Florida is the sunshine state so why not go with the Rays? Hell, since they did they are one of the best teams in baseball.
The logo pays homage to the old team by having the "R" have a devil ray tail. And the Diamond is a nice touch.
Then the Pirates. An old fashioned team, but they updated the pirate to look more cartooney. I do think it works though. He still looks angry and puts that vibe out. I also like the color scheme.
That's where my decision comes from. I love the fact that the Pittsburgh teams are the only ones who have Yellow and Black as they're colors for all of them. The Rays have a fruity color scheme. Light Blue, White, Yellow. That is kinda babyish.
Pirates for me.
Rays. They essentially took something near perfect and made it even nearer to perfect. How could I not vote for them?
